Poland - 19 Zloty Dated 2019 Hybrid Commemorative 100th Year of Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW)

This is a rather unusual commemorative note with a face value of 19 zloty. This note was issued on 02.10.2019, for the purpose of celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW). A total of 55,000 pieces/sets were issued at an issue price of 80 zloty per set. Whilst this note is legal tender, it is not intended for circulation due to the premium on the issue price. It is unlikely anyone will cash this in at face value.

The PWPW (Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych) was established on 25.01.1919 and was originally operated under the name of State Graphics Works (Państwowe Zakłady Graficzne) until 10.07.2016. In addition to printing banknotes, PWPW also involved in printing identification documents, postage stamps and many other types of security prints.
