..Hungary - 2018 Prints of 500 and 1000 Forint

I believed that these are the only two notes printed with the year date of 2018. The two notes posted here are the 500 and 1000 forint. Both the notes are revised issues of the current series with minor alterations to the designs and also with added security features. The colour of the 500 forint has also changed to a more reddish look. This series of banknotes was first introduced in 1997 and since then reprinted with minor changes and additional securities added to the entire series.

Prince Rakoczi Ference or Francis ll Rakoczi

Front - Prince Rakoczi Ference or Francis ll Rakoczi was born in 1676 and died in 1735. He was the Prince of Transylvania from 1704 to 1711. He was involved in the failed uprising against the Austrian Emperor for the purposes of gaining Hungary's independence. In Hungary today, he is considered as a national hero and no doubt this note is printed with his portrait to honor him.

Back - The Sarospatal castle is located in a town of Sarospatal, north east of Hungary. This castle was built in the 13th century.

One Thousand Forint

Dated 2018, King Matyas (b.1443-1490)

 

Front - King Matyas or King Matthias Corvinue was the King of Hungary and Croatia and he reigned from 1458 to 1490. In addition to this, he was also the King of Bohemia (1469 to 1409) and the Duke of Australia from 1487 to 1490. A brutal ruler and was feared by his subjects. He died of a stroke at a relative young age of 47 years old.

Back - On the back, it features the Hercules fountain located at the Castle of Visegrad, 45 km north of Budapest. The castle is situated by the Danube Bend river. It is believed that this castle was first built in 1325.
