...Northern Ireland, Ulster Bank Limited - 2017 Reprints £10 and £20

Northern Ireland

Ulster Bank Limited

These are most probably the last reprints of the paper banknotes issued by the Ulster Bank Limited. On 27.02.2019, the bank issued a series of two new polymer notes both dated 12.04.2018. These two polymer notes are the £5 and £10 and both dated 2018. In 2020, the bank will release a new £20 polymer note, thus replacing the paper note series. It is not sure if the bank will continue issuing the £50 paper banknote.

As per all previous issues, the designs for these two notes posted here are the same except that these notes bear the signature of Les Matherson, Chief Executive Office and are printed with a new date of 04.04.2017. Sadly to say that I am going to miss these kinds of 1960s “vintage” banknote designs. Whilst both the Bank of Ireland and the Northern/Danske Bank had issued redesigned banknotes over the years, Ulster Bank is the only bank that basically maintained the same design for more than 50 years for this series until recently i.e. polymer notes new series.
