Hi paperbanknotes, One very distinct difference about banknotes and stamps is that even after so many years, most of us can still see that each banknote has its own unique features which at a glance, most of us can still tell which country it is from. However, sad to say that the opposite is happening to the philatelic world. We have seen many modern stamps which look more like colourful stickers which bear no resemblance to their country of origin. We believe if the post offices continue to go along this direction, it can be a quick demise to philately. Just our two cents :D
Yes, you are right on this. The introduction of Internet since the early 90s has forced many Post Services around the world to come up with all kind of themes and ideas to keep the interest going. They don't print stamps like they used to be.
