Ukraine - 100 Karbovantsiv Numismatic/Souvenir Banknote 2017 Not Legal Tender

'Souvenir banknote - one hundred karbovantsiv'

The National Bank of Ukraine issued a Souvenir note on the 29.12.2017 to celebrate the 100 years anniversary event of the Ukrainian Revolution 08.11.1917-17.11.1921 and the first Ukrainian banknote. This note is known as 'Souvenir banknote - one hundred karbovantsiv.

The design is a banknote inside a banknote. The main features of this note, both front and back, is the reproduction of the first Ukraine banknote – the State kreditovogo of 100 karbovantsiv (P1). This first Ukrainian banknote was printed with three languages - Ukrainian, Polish and Yiddish. The new note is measured 80mm x 170mm. The Ukrainian Revolution was a conflict between different political and military forces in Ukraine. This conflict went on for 4 years which resulted in the creation of the Ukrainian Republic and then became part of the Soviet Union and known as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. On 24.08.1991 it became an  independence sovereign state.

As mentioned earlier, this is a souvenir note and as such has no legal tender value. Apart from the word Україна (Ukraine) the central bank’s name Національний банк України is missing from the note. Furthermore there are no value printed on this note apart from the design of the 1917 100 karbovantsiv note. The note is also printed with the texts of the events of the Ukrainian Revolution 1917-1921 and 100 РОКІВ (YEARS) on both sides.The note has no signature either.

A total of 80,000 pieces has been issued with a selling price of 42 hryvnia per note.
